Having cemented its reputation as one of the world’s biggest and most loved electronic music radio shows, Global truly fulfils its title with a network spanning over 40 countries, reaching almost every corner of the globe. Broadcast every week on many of the worlds leading FM, satellite and digital broadcasters, it reaches over 14 million fans every single weekend.
Stretching across the broad spectrum of electronic music, the show puts an emphasis on cutting edge House and Techno – breaking new music, labels & artists on a weekly basis. The show has followed Carl on many of his most important world tours, broadcasting live highlights from the biggest international clubs and festivals plus exclusive coverage of his ongoing, award-winning summer residency at Space in Ibiza.
2012 sees Carl reach the incredible milestone of 500 consecutive episodes of Global and the achievement will be marked by a groundbreaking event at Amsterdam’s ‘ADE’ conference. For the first time in its history, the show will be broadcast LIVE to millions of listeners around the world, via Global’s huge syndication of radio stations. Supporting Carl on the night will be the legendary Fatboy Slim, along with a little help from thelikes of Cristian Varela, techno-temptress Nicole Moudaber and fast rising new talent and KISS FM DJ, Charlie Hedges.
The seventeenth edition of ADE will take place from the 17th to the 21st of October 2012. On the 17th of October Awakenings & Safehouse Management are proud to present ‘Global 500’ at the infamous, iconic and hugely impressive 3500 capacityGashouder in the heart of Amsterdam with Dutch promoter Awakenings. Awakenings, a renowned techno-event never fails to deliver a strong musical program filled with world-leading techno acts, showcasing both Dutch talent as well as international names. Awakenings is also known for its spectacular visual experience; praised for their intense laser, light, video and firework show.
The event will be broadcast live via www.carlcox.com Facebook and Mixcloud. Global premiered on Mixcloud in early 2011 and now attracts over 15,000 weekly plays, consistently topping their listener charts. This will be the first time Mixcloud have ever broadcast live, making this a true world exclusive.
In another Global first, Carl will be joined by a special co-host, Charlie Hedges. Charlie is the youngest female breakfast DJ in the UK and is one of the most listened-to voices in the UK, broadcasting to over 4 million people every week with KISS FM breakfast show. Charlie has also been making a name for herself as a club DJ, playing what she calls ‘Electro-House with a twist’. This summer she played the main stage at HD Festival alongside Fedde le Grand and Pendulum, and enjoys her first ever Ibiza residency, at Space. She plays alongside Carl on the 14th August and then goes to Mallorca Rocks on the 9th September.
Joining Carl also for a chat live on air, will be an array of superstar talent all invited in from the ADE week – all previous guests on Global over the last decade. Carl will also be inviting all his listeners to get involved, looking for fan’s favourite tracks and mixes, along with their best memories and moments from the 500 shows. Plus of course, there will be lots more to be revealed…
